This weekend was absolutely insane, hence why I’m not publishing til Tuesday! I found out I’m a (going-to-be) Step-Mom. This has its ups and downs, but I’m happy for Mr. Frye and all the new adventures to come about!
Luckily he has a huge family and they’ve been piling us with baby stuff. We won’t get a traditional baby shower or anything, but you can definitely tell we are loved, and so will this little one be.
Now back to wedding stuff!
This weekend inbetween the insanity, I was perusing craigslist (awesome place to find free stuff) and I saw a post for free photo paper. It said a couple hundred sheets, way more than I’d ever need, and he was five minutes down the road. SCORE! Emailed him he gave me the address and Mr. Frye made me take him, always worried about my safety, but I guess you can never be to safe these days. Well after we get there, the man is very friendly hands me this huge box of paper, which you probably saw on Instagr.am there is well over 1500 sheets of 4×6 photo paper still in the original packages.
Talk about a deal! I’m definitely never going to use all of this, and plan to recycle what is left over after the wedding, but honestly that probably just saved me at least $50/75 of photo printing etc for part of our centerpieces.
What am I doing with the photo paper you may ask?
Two things.
One – Invitations. The photographer that I found doesn’t do prints unless you pay extra just digital, which works out well with free photo paper. We are going to include an engagement picture in each one of our invitations on the pocket. I’ll do an invitation post later to show you my ideas. (Hint: no superheros, but lots of vintage and a mason jar)
Two – Centerpieces. I can’t tell you how long ago I pinned this, well I guess I could but I’ve been in love with it forever. I’m going to laminate pictures of Mr. and I and put them in water in mason jars as part of the centerpieces.
And speaking of freebies. I’ve also gotten free mason jars from a couple different places.
I’ve posted on www.freecycle.org – it really is a good resource when you are looking for things people might just be giving away. I had a guy give me over 80 mason jars for free. I also posted on craigslist for stuff I was in search of.
Plus people will start coming out of the wood-works when they know what you’re looking for. Make sure people know exactly what it is you’re looking for, because even in conversation it comes up and someone will know someone or they will have them just lying around the house.
Other things I’ve already gotten for free, and will explain in later posts:
– Scrabble games ( I only need the tiles and the tile holders)
– Large Picture Frames
– I’ve used a lot of VistaPrint’s freebies (there will be a details post on this)
– A lot of family members are offering to cook/bake for the wedding so there will be free stuff involved in that as well.
So if you are on a very tight budget and want an awesome wedding, it is possible you just have to know where to look and what to look for. Hopefully I can help along the way!
