Freebies, Who doesn’t Love these??

This weekend was absolutely insane,  hence why I’m not publishing til Tuesday!  I found out I’m a (going-to-be) Step-Mom.  This has its ups and downs, but I’m happy for Mr. Frye and all the new adventures to come about!

Luckily he has a huge family and they’ve been piling us with baby stuff.  We won’t get a traditional baby shower or anything, but you can definitely tell we are loved, and so will this little one be.

Now back to wedding stuff!

This weekend inbetween the insanity, I was perusing craigslist (awesome place to find free stuff) and I saw a post for free photo paper.  It said a couple hundred sheets, way more than I’d ever need, and he was five minutes down the road. SCORE! Emailed him he gave me the address and Mr. Frye made me take him, always worried about my safety, but I guess you can never be to safe these days.  Well after we get there, the man is very friendly hands me this huge box of paper, which you probably saw on Instagr.am there is well over 1500 sheets of 4×6 photo paper still in the original packages.

Talk about a deal! I’m definitely never going to use all of this, and plan to recycle what is left over after the wedding, but honestly that probably just saved me at least $50/75 of photo printing etc for part of our centerpieces.

What am I doing with the photo paper you may ask?

Two things.

One – Invitations.  The photographer that I found doesn’t do prints unless you pay extra just digital, which works out well with free photo paper.  We are going to include an engagement picture in each one of our invitations on the pocket.  I’ll do an invitation post later to show you my ideas.  (Hint: no superheros, but lots of vintage and a mason jar)

Two – Centerpieces.  I can’t tell you how long ago I pinned this, well I guess I could but I’ve been in love with it forever.  I’m going to laminate pictures of Mr. and I and put them in water in mason jars as part of the centerpieces.

Example

And speaking of freebies.  I’ve also gotten free mason jars from a couple different places.

I’ve posted on www.freecycle.org – it really is a good resource when you are looking for things people might just be giving away.  I had a guy give me over 80 mason jars for free.  I also posted on craigslist for stuff I was in search of.

Plus people will start coming out of the wood-works when they know what you’re looking for.  Make sure people know exactly what it is you’re looking for, because even in conversation it comes up and someone will know someone or they will have them just lying around the house.

Other things I’ve already gotten for free, and will explain in later posts:

–  Scrabble games ( I only need the tiles and the tile holders)

–  Large Picture Frames

– I’ve used a lot of VistaPrint’s freebies (there will be a details post on this)

– A lot of family members are offering to cook/bake for the wedding so there will be free stuff involved in that as well.

So if you are on a very tight budget and want an awesome wedding, it is possible you just have to know where to look and what to look for.  Hopefully I can help along the way!

Weddings, Weddings, Weddings

More about my regular life.  This summer one of my friends from work is getting married in July, my only sister is getting married in August, and My best friend is getting married in September.  My whole life is about weddings right now. It is crazy.  I’ve designed 3 sets of wedding invitations, programs, and everything else in the last few weeks, let alone now we are working on centerpieces.  If I bring up another wedding, probably another great idea from a friend/family and figured I’d share.

Their Weddings!

July – Ms. Fletcher

Shes having a super elegant evening in the city wedding with a ballroom that has all glass windows and you can see the entire skyline, it’ll be beautiful. I’ve helped with her invites! I’ll definitely be sharing pictures here soon!

August – Ms. Litchney

This is my sister, super quirky/weird and having a green and silver Medieval themed wedding.  This is including handmade chainmaille for her horse and custom thrones for her reception.

September – Ms. Andrusky

My best friend is having a beautiful teal and hot pink carnival wedding! Wait for these posts, because her decorations are going to be outrageous! Plus there will be tons of DIY, how to, and learning experience posts.

So please bare with me as I do all of these weddings, and be their go to for DIY as well as planning my own!  This is going to be a great year and a half! Hope you all enjoy the ride as well.

First things First

How do you mix Vintage Country with Superheros?

This is how:

I’m a self-proclaimed DIY expert, I have a minor in graphic design, and love all things crafty.  So I’ve decided I want the really pretty Vintage Country wedding, with the fun Superhero twist!

These are the superhero touches we will be adding to our wedding, to make it more fun, and not over the top!

Belt Buckles & Garters

Each of the groomsmen will be dressed in white shirts, dark jeans, boots and possibly a hat (we are still debating on that) Every where on Pinterest you see the superhero shirts under their tux’s, but I’m afraid that if you don’t wear a jacket, that brightly colored shirt will show through and ruin all of my pictures.  So I’m keeping with the country and as part of our groomsmen gifts giving each of them a belt buckle with the superhero we choose for them.

Also because each of the superhero’s I picked for the girls are sexy but classy, we are doing garters, it’ll be fun incognito, but will still get good pictures from it.

The Asking to be in the Bridal Party

I’m doing something very special for this, so I’ll have an awesome post after its officially done, even though everyone knows who is in the bridal party so far.  But we are including their superhero shirt in the package, so they can dress up when they want, and for the rehearsal dinner. Here are the ones we got for Mr. & I.  (His happened to come with a mask too!)

Venus De Milo ShirtOptimus Prime Shirt

Love these shirts! You should’ve seen me opening the packages, I was like a kid at Christmas.  I had to have mine custom made, because SHOCKER, they don’t make a Venus de Milo Ninja Turtle Shirt.  I found an awesome artist on Redbubble.com.  He made is just for me.  I’m so happy with the quality of it. I’ll definitely buy from them again if need be.

Coloring Book

Mr. has a huge family with tons of kids, so I figured doing an adult only reception was out of the question. Plus we are having such a fun wedding theme I figured we should include them!  I made a coloring book, that includes the entire wedding party, parents, and activities.  I will have crayons and even badges for them to make their own superhero.

Flowers

Yes, I know you’re thinking I’m crazy at this point! But because this is a DIY wedding and I want to include as much of this stuff as possible, I’m going to make paper flowers.  Mostly corals but also including comic book & tea soaked book pages!  They will be fun and lots of pictures to come. I also know this is going to take forever, but I have a small army already gathering, and he has tons of nieces.

Premixed Cocktails

I’m cheap, and on a very tight budget.  We are doing premixed cocktails in mason jars that are all superhero themed! I haven’t figured out the drinks yes, so any suggestions are always welcomed!

Cake & Cupcakes

One of two of our cakes will of course have Venus and Optimus on it, but we are also planning on having some hero themed topper on the cupcakes.  Yes I’m also having a very traditional, pretty wedding cake as well!

Meet the Bridal Party

Instead of programs we are doing a large program board & a Meet the Bridal Party Board.  On this each person will be listed as their super hero!

I’m sure there is more! and Things will be changed and tweaked before July. But this is a start and it’s a great way to get my ideas out there!

The Beginning

As you may have read, our meeting wasn’t very conventional, but it was perfect and happened for a reason.  Mr. Frye is a godsend to me and I for him.  We have changed each other’s lives for the better, and I honestly cannot wait to be his wife!

We’ve had our struggles from every day life, and endured some heartache, but we have pushed through and have really made good of what we have.

Seeing a Move in 3D

Seeing a Move in 3D

As far as the wedding goes, I was given the go ahead to plan a wedding, pick a date, and get the ball rolling.  We might not be traditionally engaged, but in our minds we are and when he finally proposes and gives me the ring he thinks I deserve, it will make the wait all the more worth it.

Our Wedding will be July 27th, 2014.

Theme: Vintage Country with a Superhero Twist (We are total little kids and had to include Venus in our wedding!)

Colors: Coral & Aqua

Officiant: Mr. Frye’s dad (he has 5 boys, and I really wanted him to be apart of our wedding)

Food: We are having our families cook for 200 (yes we are crazy but they offered) I’m going for simple picnic food & BBQ

A lot of little things have been decided, but I figured I’d make a post about each of them, to let you see if you can see the same vision that I do.
